Local authorities in Indonesia’s Bandar district have launched an official investigation into the circulation of a viral video allegedly depicting an intimate encounter between a couple in a public or semi-public space.
The footage, which began circulating on various social media platforms this week, has prompted concern among residents and calls for action regarding the distribution of explicit digital content.
The leak triggered a massive wave of public curiosity, leading users to aggressively search for links using keywords like “Bandar Membara Viral”, “Bandar Membara Viral Video”, “Bandar Viral Video”, “Bandar Membara” and “Bandar Bergetar”.
The “Bandar Membara” viral video features a couple, identified by authorities with the initials TA (19) and SE (26), and contains explicit material that was allegedly recorded for private use before being leaked and widely shared across platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram, Telegram, and X (formerly Twitter).
The widespread dissemination of the video caused significant public concern, prompting the Batang Police (Polres Batang) to intervene.
Couple Seen in ‘Bandar Membara’ Viral Video Summoned by Police
Authorities summoned the individuals involved for clarification and are investigating the situation to determine if criminal actions occurred, such as the unauthorised distribution of explicit content under Indonesia’s ITE Law (Electronic Information and Transactions Law).
Security experts and law enforcement are actively warning the public against clicking on suspicious links promising access to the “full” video.
These links are frequently identified as phishing attempts designed to steal personal data, compromise social media accounts, or infect devices with malware.
